Why donate?

A donation to the Traveling Library is an investment in our shared future in Columbia County. We are the only free public library for most of the county, traveling over 7,000 miles each year to 40 locations. Our services support early literacy -- that vital first step toward lifelong success for our children -- and enrichment for all ages. 

The Traveling Library must raise a minimum of 12% of its operating budget this year just to pay for the absolute basics. In 2011, we were hit with a double blow: an $8,000 repair to the bookmobile and flood losses of over $90,000.

We must rely on the generosity of individuals and business sponsors to ensure that we will be able to stay on the road and improve services to smaller communities. 

Please remember, the Traveling Library is not affiliated with the Bloomsburg Public Library. Please support both libraries.

How can you help?

Direct Donation: We are grateful to receive monetary donations. Please contact the librarian at 387-8782 or send a check to the library. Give a gift that is a lasting investment in our shared future.

Memorial/Honorary Book Program:A Memorial contribution to the Columbia County Traveling Library gives you the opportunity to honor the memory of friends or relatives. You may specify a subject area for your gift or the librarian will select a new book in an area of need.

An Honorary Gift gives you the unique opportunity to honor a person or a special occasion (birthday, anniversary or retirement) -- the perfect gift for the person who has everything! 

Your book(s) will bear a lovely bookplate nameing the donor and the person honored. Letters of acknowledgment and appreciation will be sent to both the donor and the honoree or their family.

Annual Fund Campaign: Our primary source of donations come from the annual letter campaign in April, just before National Library Week. To donate at anytime, contact the library or send you donation to: Columbia County Traveling Library, 15 Perry Avenue, Bloomsburg, PA 17815. (We continue to use this address for mail.)

Events: Please support our fundraising events through out the year. We hold book sales frequently and they bring in much needed funds. We accept donations of gently-used books and DVDs. See our Special Events page for more information.

The online form shown below may be used to initiate a memorial or honorary contribution. Please provide the information requested below so that we can follow your instructions. Include the information exactly as you would like it to appear on the gift book and acknowledgement. Please send a check made payable to the Columbia County Traveling Library or visit the library with a cash payment. The  Library thanks you for your generous tax deductible gift.
